Latest News – Oracle Stadium

Normally a baseball story does not get posted but it is somewhat relevant because  soccer has been played there since the park opened in 2000. Per Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle AT&T Park will be renamed Oracle Park, effective immediately.

There has been a soccer history with the park, with the US National Team playing Japan in 2006, Manchester City against Club America in 2011, the Quakes playing a home game against the Houston Dynamo in 2012, and the most recent being Everton and Juventus playing a friendly in 2013.

While Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara and Avaya Stadium has since taken over as the main venues to book soccer, plus the holiday game at Stanford Stadium there remains the possibility that Oracle Park (nee AT&T, SBC, and Pacific Bell Park) will host another game.

The most recent non-baseball event was the Rugby Sevens World Cup last July.

Some greatest hits from what was called The Phone Company Park.
