This Week 2-3-20

There is nothing to report, except training camp is in progress for both the Quakes and Roots.  The Quakes open play against Toronto on February 2 at 2:15pm, while the Roots kick off their Spring Season against Chattanooga FC the same day ay 5:10pm.

RECAP: Earthquakes Open 2020 Preseason with Friendly Against Columbus (sjearthquakes.com) – given the expanded number of clubs in MLS this is the only “meeting” between the two clubs this year, with no matches on the schedule.

AFC Hearts of the UPSL and San Ramon FC of the NPSL have announced they are respectively going on hiatus for the 2020 season.  The East Bay FC Stompers released a statement via Zimpix’s twitter (Doug Zimmerman of The Beautiful Blog’s spot on the tweet–give him a follow).

Hopefully being in one league will make the team a more sustainable outfit.  The club is hoping for greater success in a regional outfit that includes Real San Jose (another former NPSL team), JASA Redwood City, San Leandro, and Contra Costa FC.

Also, the Glens are looking for a new coach–their announcement for Monday was coach Javier Ayala-Hil stepping down for family reasons.  We wish him the best in that endeavor.  Of note, he has been playing for Olympic Club during their Open Cup run and it continues on March 25 7:30pm at Negoesco Stadium against FC Davis of the NPSL.
