In a decision day classic the Quakes play to a 1-1 draw against Austin. Cristian Espinoza gave the Quakes the lead in the 17th minute only for Owen Wolff of Austin to draw even 15 minutes later.
A win would have given them a straight path to the MLS Cup playoffs while a tie would have meant other results going their way. With Sporting KC and Dallas winning a Portland victory would have meant elimination.
With the Timbers loss that means the Quakes get a playoff spot with Sporting Kansas City hosting the Wild Card game on Wednesday October 25 at 6:30pm. A win will mean playing top ranked St. Louis.
